EXCH020 Update as of 4/16/2010 3:41PM Pacific

At this time the majority of mail queued in the EXCH020 domain has been delivered, and mail is being processed normally. As part of troubleshooting, a group of messages were set aside as they were believed to be the cause of the prolonged mail queue processing. Our system administrators will be working to re-inject them now that mail is being processed normally.  We will send another update when this has been completed. Sending servers may have mail queued that will be delivered at different intervals based on the sending servers algorithm.

As the first step of our corrective action plan, we are performing an emergency firmware upgrade on the SAN for the 20th domain tonight (4/16/2010).   Per our vendor’s recommendation, this upgrade will reduce the likelihood of another service processor reboot, which was the initiating event in yesterday’s outage.  You will receive a separate notice regarding this maintenance.

We are continuing to analyze the events of the last two days to finish determining root cause of this outage and create a complete action plan to prevent a recurrence of this event . We will send the complete RFO to all customers affected early next week.
