Microsoft’s little secret: Exchange + Lync License Mobility

A number of customers have told me that they want to move to the cloud, but they don’t want to lose their investment in their volume Microsoft Exchange and/or Lync server licenses.

“Good news,” I tell these customers, “You don’t have to.”

That’s thanks to a relatively new and little-known program called Microsoft License Mobility.

In the past, Microsoft didn’t allow you to use your on-premises volume licenses in the cloud. This meant that you had to buy additional licenses to move to the cloud. And that made the cloud expensive.

Today, Microsoft’s License Mobility program lets you deploy your current Exchange and Lync licenses at a Microsoft Authorized Mobility Partner’s datacenter.

Intermedia is, of course, a Microsoft Authorized Mobility Partner.

This means that we can receive the transfer of your Exchange or Lync Software Assurance licenses. You can move to our cloud without purchasing additional licenses. Even better, we transfer these value of your licenses BACK TO YOU to you via a discounted per-user price on our popular Professional, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus Voice plans.

The Microsoft License Mobility program works for Volume Licensing customers for Server and CAL licenses under Open, Select or Enterprise Agreements. Intermedia can accept those types of Exchange or Lync licenses when they’re covered by an active Software Assurance (SA) contract, and give you the discount on your cloud services.

Do you qualify? We can help you find out.

Want to know if you’re covered? Call us at (800) 379-7729 and tell us your Microsoft enrollment number. If you aren’t sure about your license type or don’t know your Microsoft enrollment number, call anyway—we can help you find out, and make it simple to move to the cloud.
