Intermedia survey reveals greatest concerns keeping UK companies from moving to the cloud

If you’re considering moving offices, you might be thinking you’re headed for a maelstrom. After all, there are a lot of factors to consider. Will you operational requirements be met by the new space? Can you make the transition without hindering employee productivity? Will the office accommodate your team as they grow?

Moving your IT infrastructure to the cloud can seem just as daunting – especially for those who are unfamiliar to its benefits.

We recently conducted a survey among channel executives who attended our Intermedia Cloud Insights partner event to get a better understanding of the key concerns keeping UK businesses from adopting the cloud – and the feedback we received was insightful.

Among the greatest concerns holding businesses from moving to the cloud were ‘a lack of understanding/knowledge of the cloud’ and ‘concerns of off-site data storage’.

Channel partners recognize business opportunity in the cloud

Despite concerns from some organizations, reluctance to adopt cloud services is quickly eroding – with just a single respondent reporting that they do not supply cloud services to their customers.

In fact, activity has been ramping up over the last twelve months with more than nine in ten respondents having seen an increase in demand for cloud services across the course of 2014.

Unsurprisingly, respondents voted unanimously that the channel is an effective device for increased cloud uptake.100 percent of respondents said that ‘the channel is important to the UK cloud market.’

The most important vendor attribute for a healthy channel relationship? Ease of doing business. Take a look at some of the other attributes respondents cited:

Our Director of Sales in EMEA, Aidan Siminster had this to say about the survey findings:

“This research verifies what we’ve been saying for a long time: cloud can be confusing for businesses. New forms of technology can be difficult to understand and it can take time for people build trust and confidence, which is something both channel partners and vendors must continue to address if they are to deliver benefits to business and in turn become themselves more successful in 2015.’’

This survey was carried out by 33 channel execs at Intermedia Cloud Insights 2014 at Mercedes-Benz World on 25th November.
