How Easter Seals Bay Area uses Intermedia AppID® Enterprise to help scale with rapid growth

When any business experiences a 125% growth rate over two years, it’s a big deal. However, with this kind of extreme growth rate comes major challenges as companies must scale things such as technology infrastructure with their business.

A rapidly growing non-profit seeks cloud IT services that can grow with them

Since 1927, Easter Seals Bay Area (ESBA) has been leading the way to ensure individuals and families affected by disabilities can live, learn, work and play to their full potential. In 2012, demand for behavioral health services at ESBA grew astronomically after they became covered by insurance. This meant that Robert Van Tuyl, ESBA’s Chief Innovation Officer, had the challenge of channeling the massive growth and scaling up the rest of the business’s technology infrastructure to match.

“We wanted a secure and reliable email service that would be able to scale with us as well as integrate with our Exchange environment seamlessly, with minimal disruption for our employees’ IT experience,” said Van Tuyl.

But that wasn’t the end of technological growing pains. As the use of ESBA cloud-based and on-premises applications grew, ESBA’s technology team also faced the challenge of managing access and authentication for a growing number of users. ESBA chose Intermedia AppID Enterprise as its SSO solution due to its ability to integrate with ESBA’s custom applications and its overall ease of use and deployment.
