What’s in store for cloud-based voice services in 2016?
RCR Wireless News has been publishing 2016 predictions from leading industry analysts and executives in the voice services space. Recently, they published predictions made by our own VP of Product Management for Voice Services, Sarat Khilnani.
Significant growth in cloud-based voice services expected in 2016
It’s not surprising to see more and more publications wondering what the new year will have in store, as far as voice is concerned. Cloud voice has been experiencing quite significant growth. According to a 2014 Synergy Research Group study, cloud-based phone services have been growing at almost 30%, while premises-based PBX sales have been steadily declining. Morning Markets expects 65% of businesses to utilize some form of VoIP service by the end of this year.
This growth can be attributed to businesses looking to take advantage of the benefits of integrated voice and data capabilities in the cloud. But what other changes do the experts expect? You can read the full article here, as well as other commentaries in this 2016 predictions series.
Changes predicted in 3 key areas
Sarat focused his predictions on 3 areas of cloud-based voice services in this issue of the RCR Wireless series:
Movement to the cloud
“Improvements in cloud infrastructure and virtualization of services, such as hosted PBX, will help drive a much more cost-effective business model for providers and end users.”
Virtualized PBX environments for enterprises
“2016 will bring the growth of these deployments, now in their infancy, and will also see the emergence of service providers that offer complimentary components…”
Decline in voice fraud
“….in order to mitigate toll fraud, vendors will start encouraging safe practices for accessing voicemail, portals and phone administration.”
