Intermedia’s CEO Michael Gold talks UCaaS market opportunity
Our new Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) platform, Intermedia Unite™, has made quite an impact. The partner response at XChange Solution Provider earlier this month was fantastic. While we’ve been talking about how easy Intermedia Unite is for partners to sell, manage and support under their brand or ours, we wanted to take a step back and provide some additional insight into the UCaaS market opportunity from the perspective of our CEO, Michael Gold.
Tell us about Intermedia Unite in your own words.
Intermedia Unite is the affordable, all-in-one communications and collaboration platform that transforms the way partners, and their clients, do business. Unite combines our new, feature-rich phone system, with mobile, desktop, screen sharing, web conferencing, video collaboration, file sharing & backup, and so much more. It’s all delivered in one, highly integrated, reliable, and secure cloud-based solution. And as with our other products, Intermedia Unite is backed by our 99.999% uptime SLA and J.D. Why did Intermedia build Unite?
We built Unite with the goal of making it the easiest UCaaS solution for partners to sell, provision, install, and support. Unite gives partners the opportunity to realize healthy new revenue streams while continuing to set their own margins. To help shorten the sales cycle, we rolled out new self-service ordering, a robust new web admin portal, and a new partner quoting system. Plus, our 360-degree approach to partner success means they receive sales training, brandable marketing and sales materials, and concierge sales assistance to help sell and support Unite. We even help manage the complex regulatory and tax compliance requirements.

Can you talk a bit about the market opportunity?
There’s a huge opportunity within the space that we want to help partners capitalize on. Frost & Sullivan reports that the UCaaS market is relatively untapped. They expect UCaaS to experience double-digit growth in the coming years – expanding from $3.75 billion in 2016 to $14.83 billion in 2023. We firmly believe, and industry experts like Frost & Sullivan concur, that Intermedia is well positioned for long-term success in this space because of our already successful voice business and our partner-friendly sales model.
What message do you want to communicate to our current and prospective partners?
We remain vigilant in our promise to be a channel-first company. We will continue to invest in and develop the products and support that partners and their clients want. Our partner-focused sales programs allow partners to set their own margins, control their profitability, and simplify deployment and administration. This is just the exciting beginning. We will continue to invest heavily in Intermedia Unite, with more and more features being added in the months and years to come.
