Cloud Migration Choices: Pros and Cons of the Major Options

For enterprises, moving to the cloud is a serious undertaking

When I talk to enterprises about moving to the cloud, I can sense the fear.  On-premises IT is a stalwart choice that’s hard to give up. But the reality is, technology is moving beyond on-prem servers. The world is moving to the cloud and it behooves enterprises to move sooner rather than later.

But choosing a cloud platform is a delicate process. For enterprises, the selection process needs to take into account any requirements for customized security, third-party integration, data storage location, and more. This is not something you jump into quickly.

Compare your cloud platform options and assess your company’s needs

To help enterprises on their journey to cloud adoption, I recently wrote a piece for that compares the various Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) options on the market today that can meet the needs of enterprises. I encourage you to give it a read and start thinking about what your company needs in a cloud platform.

Let Intermedia help you with the process

As an alternative to IaaS or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), you can also consider a dedicated Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementation — a private cloud built specifically for your organization with all the hosted applications that your employees use, like email, file backup and share, and collaboration. Intermedia’s Private Cloud is a prime example of this type of cloud deployment.

If you have questions about moving to the cloud and what type of deployment is best for your organization, please feel free to give us a call at 800-379-7729. We’re here to help, and we can provide an expert assessment of your particular cloud platform needs.  You can also visit our website to learn more about Intermedia Private Cloud, our dedicated cloud offering.
