PointAcross chooses Intermedia for its 99.999% SLA

The Challenge

PointAcross' business strategy is contingent on the stream of email communication between the company and customer. “When a customer records their message a URL is developed and sent, via email, from PointAcross to the customer,” says Mark Pierce, VP of Business Development and Sales. “Email is the foundation of how we conduct business and drive revenue each and every day. Email downtime directly affects our bottom line.”

And for PointAcross, they were finding the hours of downtime racking up. As a customer of an inexperienced provider of Exchange web-based email, PointAcross was finding they were at a breaking point. They couldn’t rely on the provider to have a stable email platform. “Overall we were very unhappy with the performance and uptime they were providing us and we knew we needed to make a change,” says Pierce.

The Solution

The company began looking at both Exchange Email providers as well as researching on-premises solutions. After concluding that they wanted to remain with a hosted solution, the company reviewed a number of providers during a one to two month search, including 123 Together and Mi8, before determining that Intermedia was the right fit for them.

“Intermedia had all the offerings we were looking for at a competitive rate – including the Outlook client, good spam filtering and ability to share files via SharePoint,” says Pierce. “We were also impressed with the financially backed uptime SLA and 24/7 support.” PointAcross signed on for Intermedia’s Exchange Email 2007 service and when Exchange 2010 became available they migrated to the newer platform. They also use Intermedia’s Hosted SharePoint.

PointAcross operates satellite offices in Boston, Portland and the UK, and their employees often telecommute from home. Mobile working is an everyday occurrence for the company. “It is paramount that all of our employees be able to access their office email and files from anywhere,” says Pierce. Intermedia’s mobility solution for BlackBerry helps ensure that no matter where a PointAcross employee is they are fully connected.
