Intermedia Acquires SaaSID

Global leader in cloud services acquires identity and access management, security and compliance vendor

2013-09-26

Intermedia, the world’s largest one-stop shop for cloud IT services and business applications, today announced the acquisition of SaaSID. SaaSID provides organizations with a single point of control over employees’ access to cloud services and applications, minimizing the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data. This enables companies to stand up a new security perimeter around all their social, mobile and cloud environments, while offering employees the simplicity and ease of use of logging in only once to access all of their cloud applications.

As companies embrace the business cloud, IT administrators need to keep up with the demand by managing myriad cloud services – including email, file sync and share, voice, HR, accounting, CRM and more. Their top priority is mitigating risk and ensuring security—and by turning on single sign-on (SSO), the IT department can take control of the cloud.

Intermedia has long provided SSO to its Office in the Cloud™ suite of services. Now, with the integration of SaaSID, Intermedia’s 90,000 business customers and more than 700,000 users will benefit from the simplicity and security of SSO across all of their cloud IT services. This includes not just those offered by Intermedia, but cloud services from NetSuite, QuickBooks, Salesforce, Workday and hundreds of other providers.

SSO also benefits employees who use a large and growing number of cloud services beyond business applications. Users no longer have to remember multiple usernames and passwords, which increases productivity and significantly reduces calls to help desks.

“With this acquisition, Intermedia continues to be a pioneer in delivering secure business applications and cloud services to its customers and to the SMB market,” said Phil Koen, Intermedia chairman and CEO. “Ed Macnair and his SaaSID team have rapidly forged a reputation as innovators in the security space. We will invest in and hasten the speed with which this ground-breaking technology is available to our customers.”

The acquisition furthers Intermedia’s vision of providing a tightly integrated business cloud solution to small and medium-sized businesses. All of Intermedia’s services are pre-integrated for a seamless user experience. They’re managed via Intermedia’s HostPilot® control panel, with just one login, one password, one bill and one source of support – creating tremendous cross-service efficiencies for both users and IT administrators. Now, with SaaSID, Intermedia’s customers can extend this experience to include all of their cloud services, not just those from Intermedia.

“SaaSID was founded to enable businesses to fully benefit from using cloud-based services more broadly while increasing security,” said Ed Macnair, former CEO of SaaSID and now managing director, EMEA. “Our single sign-on and cloud application control software is the perfect fit for all of Intermedia’s customers. SaaSID’s customers will immediately gain from the resources and expertise of a global organization like Intermedia, as well as its ‘worry-free’ support model.”

The SaaSID cloud service will be available as an integrated Intermedia service early next year. In the meantime, interested customers should contact [email protected]. Combined, SaaSID and Intermedia’s innovative HostPilot bring cloud control back to the IT administrator while employees benefit from single sign-on to all cloud applications.

The terms of the deal have not been publicly disclosed. SaaSID was advised by Rupert Cook of Realise Capital Partners.
