Intermedia, the world’s largest Microsoft hosted Exchange provider, today launched policy-based Encrypted Email. Combined with its current user-level encryption product, the company now offers a comprehensive email encryption solution to its customers. Encrypted Email is available at a click to individual employees looking to secure a specific email – as well as organizations looking to set and enforce standard encryption policies for email communication. With this solution, Intermedia is helping companies across various industries ensure their confidential communications are safe, secure, and comply with state and federal legislation.
Organizations in certain industries, such as financial services or healthcare, have ethical, fiduciary, and regulatory duties to ensure that their clients’ personal information remains confidential. Encrypted Email from Intermedia can help these companies comply with industry-specific privacy legislation, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA.
Intermedia offers two choices in email encryption.
- Policy-based Encrypted Email:Easily encrypts emails based on company-wide rules and policies the customer sets up and manages – all without disrupting day-to-day workflow. With outgoing content filtering, all email content and attachments are automatically scanned to detect whether the message warrants encryption before being sent. No additional software or plug-ins are required.
- User-level Encrypted Email: Provides end-to-end encryption and helps customers give certain employees or groups additional layers of encryption. Users compose email messages, add any attachments, click the “Secure” button on the plug-in toolbar, set their encryption password, and hit “send.”
Both Encrypted Mail solutions are backed by a globally-recognized Certificate Authority, which ensures the SSL certificate is secure and trusted. All encrypted messages are digitally signed and can be validated to prove compliance as required. Intermedia Encrypted Mail encrypts any MS Office document, .PDF file, image file, and almost any other popular file format.
Intermedia partnered with Echoworx, the leading provider of managed encryption services for complete enterprise email and data protection, to bring policy-based encrypted email to market. Intermedia has offered user-level encryption since February 2008. The launch of policy-based Encrypted Email ensures customers have a range of choices in their encryption solution, tailoring their decision to their internal, industry and geographical requirements.
