Company finds iPhone users most “chatty” and Android users most “popular”

Intermedia, the world’s largest Microsoft Exchange hosting provider, reports that 50 percent of the employees at the small and medium-sized businesses that the company supports use smartphones to access their email. This is in contrast to a recent survey Intermedia conducted with Harris Interactive, which found that only 38 percent of small and medium-sized business workers use smartphones. Cloud-based email users are more likely to access email from smartphones because of specifically-designed email syncing capabilities that mirror the desktop email experience.
Other interesting smartphone stats from Intermedia’s small and medium-sized customer-base include:
- iPhone users are the “most chatty,” sending more outgoing messages on average per day than BlackBerry or Android users.
- Android users are the “most popular,” receiving more overall messages on average per day than BlackBerry or iPhone users.
- Roughly 95 percent of the companies that Intermedia supports have at least one smartphone activated.
- Most users, 75 percent, choose Active Sync-based devices including the iPhone and Android.
